Like the Real Autobahn, it takes you a long way in a very short time. This satellite-based system grabs the Internet, throws it 22, miles into space to a satellite, bounces it back down to a 21" dish on your roof, and shoots it straight into your PC. Elapsed time: almost enough for one hiccup.

Sorry to take so long, however, this project is at a standstill for a couple of days. Thank you James, I have been anxiously waiting for your report. I live in bandwidth wasteland here in central Illinois, and it's very good news to me that there may now be a viable satellite provider.

James, Where are you located? I'm a little confused! I checked out Ultimate Satellite's web site and was struck with the impression that it was, at best, put together hastily and with hardly any valuable information. Why would they exclude all of the information that a consumer would need to make an intelligent decision with regard to the value of their product.

Why would they require an e-mail request for information rather then post this same information on a well planned web site and have people review the information and sit back and wait for orders? I'm in no way knocking Ultimate Satellite, I can't because I do not know enough about the product and I'm not in the habit of doing the seller's work for them and paying them for my labors too!

I'm thinking maybe I'm missing something! David Graham. Darrel Toepfer. James, Which satellite, transponder and polarity is this service using? Thanks David. Darrel, From what I seem that thang looks all the world like the thing you wanted to do. I watch some of those on occasion. Darrel, you know of any Ku stuff on M5? David Graham wrote I watch : some of those on occasion.

Got it. I saw some MPEG'ie doo stuff mentioned : somewhere. Might could be smaller if : the satellite signal is strong enough. Your url didn't work, but some tweaking of it got me to this. I think SatCom Systems would be the satellite manager then. I've been to their site, but not much info there. We'll see. Can you please ask Tom if they plan on releasing a USB version anytime? Brendan Getchel. I've been to : their site, but not much info there. Dan Gustafson. Enter the transponder frequency, polarization offset, and symbol rate.

These are the settings we use in Belize, but yours may be different. Websetup will then present a 'tuning' screen displaying the correct Elevation, Azimuth, and Polarization settings for your location determined by your zip code or latitude and longitude. Position the satellite dish accordingly. You will likely have to move the dish around a bit to get the best signal strength. You should get at least 50 for adequate antenna performance. Once you are fairly certain that you are getting the highest signal strength you can get, you can click Next.

This screen is for cross-polarization. The object is to 'skew' twist the dish to the proper polarization setting done previously and now you may need to tweak it a little one way or the other to get better transmitter strength. Choose Manual fine pointing mode, and click the Start Test button. You will have a few minutes to adjust the polarization during this test if necessary.

Stop the test once you have a passing result i. Then set the fine pointing mode to Automatic and click Start Test.
