That's not true at all. Hardware emulation is impossible if you don't have the chip, sure, but the 80gb consoles didn't have the chip, but used software emulation. People at sony have said that selling ps2 emulation for the later squ's is actually possible, but they wanted people to buy ps3 games instead of ps2 games.
Thats correct I should know I own one :- edit oooooo silly me I totally I misread what he wrote But yeah the chrome strip is lovely and I actually use the card reader You sure, because on the EU 60GB the "silver strip" is actually chrome and reflective, on the other models it's a lot duller, less mirror like.
I have a 60Gb and 80GB here Just a 60gigger here, I can see my face in the silver strip of my PS3, also, I'm sure that the card reader sections aren't as big in later models. Edit: Actually, watching that vid, I think differently, that strip is definatly duller than the one on my 60gigger. This would explain recent firmwares sneakily and still patching in PS2 games. Edit 2: Nope, sorry, I'm a non-believer in this That definately looks like one of the newer 80 or gb ps3's.
It doesn't have the nice shiny chrome strip like my 60gb. Edit: Notice when the game starts up the camera angle kinda tilts to the left as if he's reaching over doing something fishy with his left hand It's gotta be fake!! People got what they asked for ey? Unavailable in shops. Anyone seen them in shop yet in uk? I'm not saying this was real, but it seemed like he tilted the camera that way to show the TV and the PS3 at the same time. Notice when he tilts the camera, he keeps the PS3 in the shot the entire time, and gets the TV in the upper corner.
Again, not saying it's real, but that was how I interpreted the camera tilt. Yeah, you got it right. Thats the sole pourpose of the camera angle. To show hes not faking video even if it doesnt look very real.
I just asked the guys to make a better video with better shoots and showing the whereabouts. Also playing the game with a cable attached controller. I got mine off game. Recently saw a load in my local game shop a few weeks ago, didn't check last time I was in though. It's a nice headset but it can ache a bit unless I spend a bit of time finding the sweet spot. I think you are correct with secret patching of PS2 emulation, not only that I think they are still refining the PS1 emulation as well.
I still actively check the few games that didn't work so well on my Euro 60 Gig PS3 half hardware half software emulation of PS2 and they run with less glitches now. I still like to play some of the old games, so its nice to see, but may go unnoticed by most folks. The biggest indication has been after 2. The last game I had that wouldn't work fully freezing after the title screen has now started working perfectly, its a PS1 game called Vib Ribbon. I love that game and its never worked properly on my PS There is no po pup on here and by default this pop up appears to set the correct controller for the ps2 features of the ps3.
If there is no pop up the game might not even be loading on a PS3. I had the controller on loaded the game up using the controller and the message popped up. If the controller is already on and the pop up shows how would it turn on a second time? Just tested it. MY PS3s aren't set to auto-load games as soon as the disk is inserted.
I when I load a disk I manually start them so my controller is on when I start the game. The indicator will turn on anytime your controller is not connected via USB. When you boot a PS2 game, your controller will turn off, and the indicator will prompt you to reconnect upon the game loading.
The odds of somebody connecting there controller via USb isn't terribly large, but it is there. The easiest way to know if its real or not? There will only be two ports, and later 40gb models have a black face.
Earlier 60 and even 80's had a chromed strip. Also, look at where the memory ports would be. It will look similar, but there are no lines to break to lift it up if it is a This video is very low quality and while I won't say ya or neh, there is not a way to be decisive with this video.
Would be awesome to be able to download games like SOTC for people like me who missed it I know I suck balls but I am still looking out for it when I am out and about Im gonna buy it online soon It would be nice if this is true, Sony probably been keeping it secret upgrading the emulation until it's bugs get worked out.
I wouldn't understand it unless they was trying to get sales from the PS2 or make some big second announcement that the new PS3's have PS2 support with a big price cut. Not the first time I'm seeing a video with this service mode enabled..
The ps3 in these videos is the same one, from Ruso on teknoconsolas. All this came from a spanish website. The owner of this 40gb PS3 send it to Sony to repair and, the techies send it back with the factory mode enabled. Video is totally true. I actually told him to make the videos more realistic as it looks like a fake but i can tell you its not.
The fact that the video appeared on demonhades is due to demonhades jealousy for fame in the ps3 scene. You can check the original video without watermarks in the link above. Also this guy, demonhades, almost take credit for ifcaro's ps2 back ups on ntsc jap consoles news of last week.
Just take a look at the other videos and give him a go. I'm there with you. I kinda skipped the last generation of gaming I own a 60gig EU launch version, and my console shows the Playstation2 logo when starting a PS2 game. All the videos around the net dont seem to show that.
The 40GB had no backward compatibility at all. In , Sony scrapped the backward-compatible 80GB altogether and replaced it with a version that does not play PS2 games. There are two main reasons Sony discontinued the manufacture of backward-compatible PS3s. One, the cost of making the consoles was outstripping the revenue made selling them.
Two, the PS2 outsells the PS3, which indicates that there is still a viable market for the older console. Some PS3 owners remain hopeful that there will be a future firmware update to enable the currently manufactured PS3s to play PS2 games, including by download via the PlayStation Store an online virtual market that gives owners of certain PlayStation consoles the ability to purchase games.
